How should I spend my time in Norway?

Norway is a country perfect to explore by camper van. It does offer a great array of experiences and "must-sees". Navigating through all of the natural and cultural offers can be tricky, but don't worry!, Norway Overland can plan your itinerary for you.


Day 1; Fly to Stavanger. We will meet you there with the vehicle. Stavanger is Norway’s 4 largest city. It has museums, and is filled with restaurants and beautiful city scenery. Drive to Jørpeland, 20 minutes drive from Stavanger, to visit the famous Pulpitrock, and do the hike. Its a 4 hour roundtrip hike on well maintained paths and signs that are easy to follow. Stay the night camping in the vehicle in Jørpeland.


Day 2; Drive to Lysebotn. On the way you will drive through Byrkjedal, stop at Byrkjedalstunet for lunch and to charge the vehicle. Explore Byrkjedalstunet, with the old buildings, and mountaincave. After lunch continue on your way to Lysebotn. The road will take you trough beautiful nature, and the road itself will often be lined with walls of 3 feet of snow during the summer, and if you like hiking, you can hike to Kjerag. The hike to Kjerag is a 6 -8 hour roundtrip medium hike. The road from Kjerag parking, to Lysebotn village centre is with approx 30 hairpin bends, and gives you a great view of the Lysebotn fjord. Camp for the night in Lysebotn village. Charge the vehicle at Lysebotn.


Day 3/4, depending if you do the hike to Kjerag. Drive the Brokke- Suleskard road, a mountain road that will take you to Setesdal and the oppurtunity to experience the genuine traditional Norwegian culture, Setesdal have folkmusic, the bunad- the Norwegian national costume, Setesdal is a place with lots of history. The road will take you through the highlands of southen Norway. Have lunch at Sølvgarden hotell or have a picnic by the road - several scenic places to stop. Drive to Haukelisenter, at the highlands of Norway, and charge the car. Camp for the night at Haukeli, by a mountain lake.


Day 5/ 6, drive to Odda, and take the hike to Trolltunga. Trolltunga is also a famous hike, it is medium challenging due to its roundtrip duration, of up to 12 hours. The region is famous for its step mountains and fjords, so it is possible to do other hikes in the area. Or explore the fjords and the area for several waterfalls. Maybe you will meet the Huldra or a troll or two. Camp and charge the vehicle at Odda.


Day 7, drive from Odda to Stavanger. We will meet you in Stavanger to collect the vehicle.
